STFU & listen

In ‘STFU & Listen’, a contemporary abstract painting, the title is painted onto and forms the centerpiece of the work, dissolving into abstraction as if testing the boundaries of language itself. Both command and invocation, the words urge the viewer to step into the role of speaker, embodying presence and reckoning.

This contemporary abstract work engages the language of text-based art by integrating words directly into the canvas, aligning with modern explorations where text becomes both visual form and emotional content. The piece embodies the tension between clarity and abstraction that defines much of today’s expressive, emotional art.

Painted on an 8”x10” study canvas, this ready-to-hang work uses acrylic and pastel on stretched, gessoed canvas. Marks of red, orange, and yellow evoke the intensity and gradual release of these potent emotions after expression, falling like autumn leaves.
