Odium with the Dasies

Formerly known as “The Smell of Death in the Spring” – this painting started as a vibrant abstraction of the seasons energy. But when sitting with it I knew it was missing something. Death nurtures microbes like mycelia that feed the web of life – this is a theme in permaculture, which I was studying at the time. The large black gestures also capture the painful truth that every bloom is predicated on something first coming to an end.
