This piece centers on the volatile interaction between structure and dissolution. The composition begins with a heavy-body foundation where neon pink and white are marbled together with a palette knife, creating a thick, tactile terrain that covers the majority of the square canvas.
The focal point is an aggressive, gestural charcoal marks originating from the upper-left. This raw mark-making is immediately softened and transformed through the application of solvent (alcohol). The reaction creates a striking “wash” effect, pulling the black pigment into a smoky, watercolor-like haze that bleeds into the pink base. The result is a high-contrast study of Neo-Expressionism that balances the grit of dry charcoal with the fluidity of a chemical solvent.
